Straight up.
Use a timer. Start small. See what happens.
Consistency is where the magic happens. As with any new skill, it can be tricky to begin with, but just keep practising.
(If you are cbf on reading all of the steps in detail, just read the bolded sections)
Step 1.
To meditate, you don't need to be flexible, you most certainly wont need to sit cross legged with your palms facing up and you definitely don't need to journey to the top of a mountain (though that kinda sounds fun) to meet a spiritual counsellor. In order to meditate, all you need to be is YOU. And you're already doing that, so congratulations, you have slayed step 1.
Step 1a.
Always remember - There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Again, its about what's right for YOU.
Step 2.
Get comfy, whatever that feels like for you; it could be sitting, standing or perhaps lying down. Whichever position you choose and without strain, keep a straight spine.
Step 3.
Close your eyes.
Step 4.
Feel your breath. Pick a spot; your belly, your nose or chest. Really try to feel the breath. Notice the tempo, notice the temperature. Notice it moving in and out of your body.
Step 5.
This one is important. Everytime you get lost in thought, (which you will, because the thought train hurtles about on its own schedule), observe and be curious. Like our eyes see, and our ears hear, our mind's job is to think. When you're ready, gently return to the breath.
Step 5a.
Above all, be kind to yourself.
